Billiard Technique Glossary of Terms Comments

The billiard term I suggest is "puppy shot", but I don't know the definition.
I'm working on a translation of a novel where the main character is a pool player and he uses the term:
- "I can’t shoot a puppy no more"
- "I missed six straight puppy shots"
- "They were jawing out three-foot puppy shots".
Is there any possibility to share the term and get a definition?
Thank you,

@Ana Crespo - Thanks for the suggestion.
I am hesitant to add this because of a lack of references (other than your mention of it here).
Could this be a translation issue? Perhaps the author was referring to the billiard term dog shot, which seems to have a similar meaning and fits within context of your examples above?
