Definition of Jump Shot
Jump Shot is a billiards term that is a part of Billiard Technique Terminology.
A jump shot occurs when the shooting player intentionally causes the cue ball to become airborne as such that it jumps over object balls or other obstacles which are obstructing the path to the target object ball. Jump shots are executed by striking the cue ball into the surface of the table as such that is bounces or rebounds from the bed of the table. All authoritative ruling and governing bodies deem the action of scooping under the cue ball to propel it in to the air to be an illegal practice.
