Definition of Bottom
Bottom is a billiards slang term that is a part of Billiard Technique Terminology.
Bottom is another term for draw. One can apply bottom to a shot by simply striking the cue ball below the equator. When bottom is applied to the cue ball, the cue ball spins backward, even while sliding ahead on the cloth toward the object ball. This backward spin causes friction which causes the cue ball to either stop or begin to roll backward after striking the object ball.
See: equator, draw, draw shot, back spin, backspin, drawback, draw back, bottom spin, bottomspin, screw, screw back for more on the meaning of "Bottom".
Bottom - Usage
