Definition of Double Up
Double Up is a billiards term that is a part of Billiard Technique Terminology.
To take advantage of two or more object balls that line up towards your opponent's pocket to play safe by leaving the cue ball in roughly the same line at the far end of the table, such that neither object ball offers a clear shot to the pocket. A player can only double up as a defensive move when the balls are not lined up well enough for a reasonable combination shot.
