Definition of Dead Rail
Dead Rail is a billiards slang term that is a part of Billiard Technique Terminology.
A dead rail is a cushion or cushions on a pool table that is no longer elastic. Dead rail may also refer to a cushion that may simply be coming lose from the rail. Both of these issues can cause balls to rebound with less velocity or energy than normal.
