Definition of Catching
Catching is a billiards slang term that is a part of Gambling and Betting Terminology.
Catching is the act of intentionally agreeing to be the winner, and winning, a billiard match on which financial assets are riding. The player doing the catching is in collusion with the pitcher and other gamblers. In return for his or her participation in the collusion, the player doing the catching receives a percentage of the proceeds. He or she may also have to share any actual tournament winnings with the others in collusion. The person doing the catching would be outlined in the gapper.
