Definition of Wrap
Wrap is a billiards term that is a part of Pool Cue Terminology.
The pool cue wrap is part of the billiard cue, near the butt, which is commonly covered with Irish linen, nylon string, or leather, designed to improve the player's grip and to absorb unwanted moisture from the pool player's hands. If you tend to have perspiration on your hands, you may want a pool cue with a wrap to avoid slippage when shooting. Finer cues will have a pressed linen or leather wrap. Budget cues usually have nylon pool cue wraps. They come in a myriad of colors and styles, and so what you select will depend on your tastes. Graphite and fiberglass billiard cues usually have a grip made from a material that is know as "Veltex" which is made from graphite or fiberglass. These are normally less glossy, and more smooth than traditional pool cue wraps.
