Definition of Butt Sleeve
Butt Sleeve is a billiards term that is a part of Pool Table Terminology.
This term refers to part of a cue stick. The butt sleeve is the part of a cue stick's butt that is slightly below the wrap, or handle area. The butt sleeve is usually the part of the cue that is modified by cue makers to adjust the weight and balance point of the pool cue. To do this, they normally core out the butt sleeve to reduce excess weight in that end of the cue. The pool cue's butt sleeve is made from various different materials depending on the quality of the cue stick. It can sometimes be made from exotic woods matching the points. Cue makers normally design the butt sleeve to compliment the design in the forearm. This is done by highlighting that design by recreating the exact pattern but on a much smaller scale.
