Definition of 9 Ball
9 Ball is a billiards term that is a part of Cue Sport Game Name Terminology.
The 9 ball is known as the money ball in several billiard games, including the game of nine ball. The 9 ball is normally the final ball of the set of 9 balls that must be pocketed to win such games. In other games, such as 8 ball, the 9 ball is simply the lowest numbered ball in the stripes suit of balls, and has no real significance.
