Fischer Regent Coin-Op Pool Table Restoration Project
Sharing some photos of a coin-op Fischer Regent pool table that I completely rebuilt and restored in late 2019. It took about 3 months.
- The first gallery below has the "before" photos.
- The second gallery has the work-in-progress and "after" photos.
I think it is from the 1960s, but not totally sure.
The hardest part was rebuilding the ball drop/coin op part as the face is made from that horrible particle board. The sides are decent plywood and make a good pattern.

The original pool table as it was when it arrived home at my place. Sometimes I wonder why I do what I do. I always see the potential in something's maybe because the potential in an object is more real than the potential in people.

I have a coin-op Fischer Regent 101.C pool table with original slate marked
4,67
. It is my daily player, but the slate is broken completely in two places. I am trying to get the slate replaced so I can get the pool table re-felted.The coin-op mechanism has been damaged from someone trying to remove it. I went ahead and removed it to access the balls, but the particle board you referred to in your repair was severely damaged. I assumed this rendered it all unusable until I saw your painstaking process of rebuilding your Fischer Regent pool table. Now, I have motivation to possibly return this feature to the pool table along with replacement slate and new felt.
I was wondering if you had any suggestions or other pictures of the coin-op repair? I think all the pieces are here, but I'm not sure if it's feasible to attempt the repair. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You've done a great job on this Fischer pool table restoration!

This is the same model as my Fischer pool table, and my ball return holder has the same problem.
My room is not big enough so a short stick is used on shots from the long side. The slate is immense. My pool table is a coin-op version, and Edison Billiards said the slate is thicker than usual for the abuse that commercial pool tables often took. Not by much, but a little.
I got it free from a church who had received it as a donation from an estate. The new pastor did not think it appropriate. I paid $350 to have it moved and reset in my home. They offered to buy it for $800 and to forget the moving fee, or they would give me a $1000 break on a new table from their stock. The owner of the company told me that all he really wanted was the 1 piece slate that was in it.
It must be tough to get a one-piece slate for an 8 foot pool table I assume.
If I have to move it again, I may take him up on that offer and then just get a 7-footer pool table.

I didnt realize that I never posted the "after" pictures of the completed Fischer Regent pool table restoration.
I made new rails and installed new cushion rubber and felt cloth.
The difficult part was building the ball drop system. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give my work on that part a 4.5. Hint—go ahead and install a computer hard drive magnet under the cue ball chute and use a magnetic cue ball.
Next was cutting new wood rails. That involved some tricky compound angle cuts and a standard compound miter saw alone will not do it. I had to make templates out of scrap wood to use with the miter saw.
I will take some photos of the Fisher Regent pool table in my billiards room pub if there is any interest. It has provided lots of fun, and with Covid, it has provided the private pub.

Nice work. Amazing how well you brought it back from the horrible condition it started in.
Would love to see photos of the pool table in the room in your house!

I may also have a Fischer Regent pool table as well:
Mine is a 7-footer and it has no ID tag. I could sure use a set of the rails as mine are pretty beat up. I just got it yesterday. It's been sitting under a cover in my uncle's garage for 20 years, and before that it belonged to my grandfather. He bought it new for his shop.
Mine probably won't look anywhere near as good as yours but I just want to get it playable again.
