Thoughts on Purple Cloth for a Pool Table?
For reason, the purple pool table felt looks really cool to me. I'm thinking about getting the Simonis purple felt. What do you guys think?

I find it hard on the eyes as soon as I looked at it. I do not believe I would want to play any lenght of time on it. One of the main reasons green has been the most used is because it is easy on the eyes. Especially if you play a long session. Purple may look different but after a while I think you will tire of it. I think it is considered one of the "hard " colors.

No thanks, blehhhhh... To each his own, but I'll pass on the purple cloth.

The main thing is not to use the black felt. In that case you will spend too much time to find 8-ball on it...

black cloth disguises the black ball and purple felt disguises the purple ball! You'd run out of colors pretty fast on that principle. Microsoft did do a color study, pastel green and blue were the winners. Here are a few detailed articles on various pool table cloth (felt) colors.

That pool hall looks more like the product of an interior designer.

Green is the only color for cloth.

That purple pool table cloth looks ok, astehetically, in the photos you posted, but I'd never choose that for my own home. Tournament Blue cloth, or the traditional green is what I'd personally go with. It's hard to tell from images too.

I wanted to use purple when we re-clothed out 9' La Paz table, but got voted out by the wife. Ended up with black, and it is killer.

Can someone post a link to what Tournament Blue looks like. I am considering Blue, Green, Dark Grey or Dark Brown for my table top, although will likely choose green.

Ugly and hard on the eyes. Something one will tire of after playing for a while.

If I'd have my own pool table I'd only use the green cloth, but I think that everybody should feel himself free to decide which color he wants to use. But purple in my opinion is a really bad color...

I've had 100's of people play on this table and not one negative comment.

Diehards only want green. To each his own tho. Nothing wrong with a personal color choice be it purple, lime green or something inbetween. Whatever trips your trigger (or the wifes, lol).

A buddy of mine has purple and it is very dark and I find it hard to play on. Mine is light grey and I find it much easier to aim. I would stick with a lighter color.

Looks good to me. You like it...buy it. Your house. Your choice. Your comfort & opinion is the only one that matters.

I think green is the best for your eyes. It's more natural.
