Recommend a Cue Maker to Replace a Cracked Butt Cap op a Palmer PB-5 Cue
I am looking for a cue maker or a pool cue repair shop to repair a cracked butt cap on my Palmer PB-5 pool cue.
I bought it in 1987 when I was 16 years old and it means a great deal to me, so I would like to get it repaired.

As you might have already read here in another topic, there is no fix for the crack in the butt cap, it must be replaced by a professional cue maker who would fabricate a new cap. Some cue makers can actually reproduce the logo. These PB series cues are generally readily available at decent prices as there were so many of them. It might make sense for you to purchase one just to get the proper replacement butt cap which includes the original logo.
I don't really make specific personal recommendations, but here's a short list of a few well known cue makers and cue repair technicians that you can look into. Each has been mentioned by various folks who have had work done on their own Palmer cues.
- R.A.T. Cue Repairs (Lincoln, NE) - Ryan Theewen (of R.A.T custom cues) is an expert cue repair technician and has been doing all of the cue repair work for Mueller Recreational Products since 1996.
- Proficient Billiards (Ephrata, PA) - Scot Sherbine does their cue repair and does good work, though I've been hearing some bad reviews over the past few years. Still might be worth a look.
- PFD Studios (Marlborough CT) - Paul Drexler - I know a few collectors who have Paul work on their Palmer cues.
Best of luck, let us know who you go with and how it turns out.
