I Won A Local Pool Tournament!
Single elimination format, only like a dozen people showed.
I went hill-hill through every match though.
I also beat a pseudo-nemesis of mine. A big fat guy with the worst, WORST, form, stance, stroke, ability, practice level, sense of modesty, and body odor you've ever seen...I'm not exaggerating that much either. It's really that bad. Anyhow, he loves to chase the 9 ball whenever he has a swing at it. Me, being a much more honorable player (not that there is any honor left in pool anymore), would much rather run the rack and take a more legitimate win.
Funny story actually. I had the 9 sitting near the pocket lined up directly with the 5. I asked him what kind of match he wanted it to be. "I can do this one of two ways, Charlie. What's it gonna be?"
"Do whatever you want." He replied.
"It's really not up to me, I can crossbank, leave you safe, or chase out."
"I don't care, I really don't." He quips.
"Alright, if I don't chase this 9 ball, are you going to respect that and play me heads up, or will you make an ass out of both of us?" I ask.
"I don't know, we'll have to find out." He says with a smirk.
"Alright, smartass, fawkya." Then I fired the 5-9 down, thus starting the beginning of beating him at his own game.
I love it because he always takes me out every time, it feels good to get back at him, no matter how dirty.
I hadn't won that tournament in a long time. It's not a rated tournament, and the players aren't very good (neither am I ) so it's kind of a **** shoot to see who does well. I did steal the tournament bracket sheet with the results of the tournament and hang it in my office though.
LOL!
