Definition of Short Stop
Short Stop is a billiards slang term that is a part of Skill Level Terminology.
Someone who is an excellent player but is not quite at the same level of the very best player. The term short stop is used relative to who the player is being compared to. For example, a local shortstop is one of the better players on the local scene. When speaking of professionals, a short stop is one who often finishes in the money but never wins the tournaments.
