Burnishing is a billiards term that is a part of Pool Cue Terminology.
Burnishing is a process of sealing the pores in the wood of a wooden pool cue. Leather is the most common material used for burnishing the cue. When burnishing, the cue maker or cue owner takes a strip of leather and rubs it quickly back and forth. This causes friction which helps with the burnishing process.
