    The official rules for snooker say that players can either lag or draw for break. Lag is probably the official preferred method in snooker tournaments.

    Yes, lag is the generally accepted method used to decide who will break.

    I personally like it best because it brings more skill in to play, rather than luck. Just flipping a coin replaces the skill needed to lob the ball down to the rail and land it as close as possible back to the original rail as possible.
