We've Acquired Billiards Talk Forums

On June 14, 2008, we reached a deal to purchase the Billiards Talk forums. It was a pleasure to work with George, the creator, during negotiation and transition.

The Billiards Talk forums were created in 2006 (about 8 months after this site) by some folks who weren't happy with the way things were going at the AZBilliards forums.

Our goal is to migrate all users and posts from that site into the Billiards Forums, and redirect any traffic from that website, to this one. The migration should be completed sometime in August of 2008.

There are a number of very prominent members on the Billiards Talk forums. Brett Hartman of BHQ fame, who is widely known as one of the best custom cue makers, and is a very active member. He has a lot to offer in terms of pool cue knowledge. There are too many others to name here, but be sure to welcome them with open communication.

We've sent a mail to the Billiards Talk members this morning to explain the acquisition and outline the process.

Billiards Talk Forums - Merge With Billiards Forum

Hello Billiards Talk Members,

I'm writing from the Billiards Forum to let everyone know that the billiards-talk.info forum has been acquired and the consensus has been to merge the two forums. We believe that this will help the forums grow by consolidating the community.

Here is the proposed consolidation plan:

  1. Migrate User Accounts. You can then go to the billiards forum to "reset" your password. (we can't port passwords for security reasons)
  2. Migrate existing posts from billiards-talk over to Billiards Forum
  3. Close the board at billiards-talk

I wanted to give everyone a heads up before starting the conversion, and give users a chance to opt-out. If you do not want your user account transferred, please reply. If you choose not to have your forum account transferred, all posts will be transferred in the name "Guest Account" in order to keep the threads intact.

If you have no problems with your account being transferred, no action is necessary. If there are any questions or concerns, please let me know.
