My -RICH- Cues (Not Abe Rich)
-RICH- Cues - An Accidental Collection
I never set out to collect -RICH- cues. I was attracted to the first one I bought which is the maple into maple cue on the far right out of my love of maple into maple splices. I bought this as an unknown and it is the only one of the group missing it's logo. After that a few of the others followed me home because the prices were so low. One was actually free.
That maple into maple cue is actually a nice player especially with the two shafts I had made for it by Paul F. Drexler.
It's interesting that three of them never lost their labels which makes we think they were purchased by people who didn't use them all that much. Maybe they started to learn the game and liked it enough to buy a cue but stopped playing for whatever reason. As a collector, I have observed that sometimes the mint or NOS cues are the inexpensive models. I've see this with Palmer Cues for example.
My most recent -RICH- acquisition is the cue on the left which Kevin Stier graciously thought would be an appropriate addition to this collection. It's an outstanding cue, in mint condition, butt AND shaft, and made from a beautiful piece of rosewood.
The manufacture of these cues dates back to the early 1980s and were a product of the company once associated with Sol Rich.
