The 10-Ball Challenge Open Billiard Tournament is scheduled on Dec. 16-18 at the Time Out Sports Grille and Restaurant in Bacolod City.
Art Puentevella, secretary-general of the Negros Occidental Billiard and Snooker Association, yesterday said that the tournament will be open to all players enrolled this school year, aged 16 years old and below.
The event will serve as a grassroots development program of NOBSA for aspiring cue artists so they can be more competitive in a national tournament in the summer of 2007, Puentevella said.
Prizes will include trophies, billiard cues, and book scholarships for the next school year. Organizers are omitting cash prizes to avoid the impression that the sport is a conduit for gambling.
The three-day tournament, open to the first 64 players to register, will adopt the rules and regulations of 9-ball except that the last ball to be pocketed is the 10-ball
Registration fee is P200.
The tournament is supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Monico "Nicky Boy" Puentevella Jr. and NOBSA.
