Value of Antique Wendt Culver Pool Table

Value of Antique Wendt Culver Pool Table

I have a billiard table without a name plate, but it has a item number on the bottom of the table, 51403. Someone once told me they believed the table was from the Wendt Billiard Co.

It looks exactly like a table posted from a catalog on 10/23/2018 7:19:16 PM in the post Antique Wendt Billiard Table. It's the "Culver" style. It has a ball return and has been in my family for many decades.

How much are these old Wendt pool tables worth? What do they typically sell for, or get appraised at for a insurance value?

Is this Wendt pool table from the 1930s?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Yours certainly looks like a Wendt "Culver" model pool table - and it's also very similar to mine pictured earlier in that thread you mentioned.

I would guess that it's from 1920-1930 or so. I'm afraid I have no info on current values!

It's a beautiful antique pool table.

In that condition, you would probably be looking at between $1000 and $1500 tops.

The big money comes from those either in like-new condition, or those already restored to brand-new-like condition. A full and proper restoration will run you thousands of dollars.

The economics go like this (of course varying for many factors, but this is to give you an idea):

Someone buys an antique pool table like yours for around $1000. They either restore it themselves (professionally, not "DIY" style) or have it shipped off to a antique pool table specialist for a professional restoration. This job usually takes a number of months or even a year to complete, depending on the intricacy and difficulty finding authentic materials. They will spend anywhere from $1000 to $5000 for a full restoration. which will result in a pool table in brand-new or better than brand new condition, with zero flaws, all original materials, etc. It would then be worth $6000 to $12000+ depending on the brand, model, age, quality of the restoration, and the demand.

Wendt billiard tables aren't super high-profile and aren't particularly sought after as much as some of the antique Brunswick pool tables and other more well-known brands from the early or pre-1900s.

Usually those paying top dollar for these Antique pool tables want them to be flawless.
