National Shuffleboard & Billiard Co
Does anyone know anything about the company that is no longer in business. I'm getting an old Greenbrook National table that was made by this company and would like to learn the history of the company or any information about the table.
Thanks!

I've never heard (or found through research online) any company with the name "National Board & Billiard Company" - would this be exactly how the name is spelled and written? Could it be "National Board and Billiard Co." With the exact format and spelling, i'll be able to dig up more info for you...
Also, what time frame do you think we'd be looking at here, and do you know if these would have been sold in the USA?
However, I did find this pool table by National Shuffleboard & Billiard Co that was selling for $2500.00 USD.
Other than this, I can't find anything else at the moment. You will basically have to wait until one goes up for auction.
It looks like the National Shuffleboard & Billiard company was based out of New Jersey. (See the image)

I just bought an old coin op 7 foot table that has "national shuffleboard and billiard co" with greenbrook nj and a reference to route 22 on the sliding plexiglass door. The rails are like stone so I tried to research the company to see if I could buy new rails. The rails have 3 anchor points at roughly 13 inches apart whereas most other rails only have 2. I have a fellow (who's 79 and has been servicing pool tables for years and years) coming tomorrow to inspect the rail to see if a company he deals with can replace them. I expect the cost for new rails, rubber and wrapped to come to $200 usd. The table takes a quarter to play and the coin lays down flat in the slot, not upright like newer tables. I'm very curious as to the age of this piece. email me at dwhewell1 at comcast. net if you're interested in the results of tomorrow's meeting. I'll let you know what I've found out.

Yes. Replacing the slate is impossible. They update bolt patterns, and every company has thier own bolt patterns... good luck.

There is a National Shuffleboard & Billiard Co manufacturer in Goderich Ontario Canada. A small town located about 2.5 hours from the Canada US border on the shores of Lake Huron.
The building is definetly still in use, but may not be open to the public. Its hard to say if they are still producing tables as the shop if filled with wood working machines and wood. There is always a vehicle and lights on in the building.
The sign at the front of the building is older than my mother (snort).

Last I heard, National Shuffleboard in Goderich, On was no longer producing shuffleboards, or billiard tables. They have been building shipping crates for the Champion Road-Grader Factory in town. It has been approx. 20 years since they produced new shuffleboards I believe...

I have a National Shuffleboard & Billiard Co. pool table purchased in about 1971. It is a nice regulation size 3 piece slate table. It was purchased in New Jersey so there was a retail store based in New Jersey. I may have a copy of the original bill of sale stating where they were located. I was looking for any information regarding the table and company. I guess that is now unlikely. Can I take it apart and move it on my own?

National Shuffleboard and Billiard was in Greenbrook, NJ. The owner of the company passed away and the company dissolved.

I have a National Shuffleboard And Billiard Co. brochure with the Greenbrook, NJ address which is dated 1971, so definitely later than that.
Also, doing a corporation search in NJ tells us that it was incorporated there in 1946.
- Business Name: NATIONAL SHUFFLEBOARD & BILLIARD CO.
- Entity ID: 6416090000 (Domestic For-Profit Corporation)
- Incorporated Date: 1946-06-08
The search didn't allow viewing any more details than this.
I think they also had presence in East Orange, NJ at one point as well.

I have an 8-footer National Shuffleboard and Billiard Company pool table. We bought it in the early 1970s from Loree Jon Billiards in Greenbrook, New Jersey. I am pretty sure that was the brand they sold at the time (that they either made or had made for them). Pool Tables Plus bought it out. I am not sure if they're still there.
Here's a photo of the company label on my 8-footer National Shuffleboard pool table.

The National Shuffleboard and Billiard company started in East Orange, NJ and Moved to Route 22 in Green Brook, NJ.
The owner passed away and the company ceased operations. I believe that was in the summer of 1973.
