Mid-to-late 19th Century Jacob Strahle Pool Table for Sale
This stunning mid-to-late 19th century Jacob Strahle pool table has been in the same family for over 60 years.
It has been identified by a well-known West Coast pool table expert Harvey Rutledge as being a manufactured by Strahle in San Francisco, possibly as early as 1854, and is likely a Jacob Strahle "Cosmopolitan" model pool table from the period.
It has style cues such as Rococo Revival piano legs, seldom seen on Eastern pool tables, and Renaissance Revival frame elements typically used by post-Gold Rush-era manufacturers such as Liesenfeld and Jungblut, including raised or recessed plaques in contrasting wood patterns and colors. The antique pool table has a Brunswick Balke Collender 'Monarch' nameplate but it is not original, and was likely placed on the table when it was converted from a carom table to a pocket billiards pool table at some point in it's history.
The finish is of very good quality and the cushions and covering were replaced professionally about 10 years ago. The pool table is located in the Sacramento, CA area and was received as a birthday gift when the owner was a young man. It has been lovingly cared for by this man for over 60 years.
The asking price is $10,000.
The buyer is to make all arrangements for shipping.
