Is this Schaaf pool table worth the $1000 price?

I am looking to purchase this pool table for my husband's birthday and do not know much it is worth. I want it to be a surprise.

   This actually appears to be a Brunswick "Madison" pool table, a model which was made between 1916 and 1924.

   The Schaaf name plate was most likely swapped in when a technician from that company serviced it at one point (as was a common practice). You can actually see the poor-quality workmanship in the photo above where the technician notched out the rail to fit the Schaaf name plate (which was not the same size as the Brunswick Balke-Collender Co. name plates of that era). It would not have come from the factory like that.

   I noticed the seller posted an old brochure for a Minnesota-made pool table "The Medford", but that is clearly not the table they have for sale.
