Is this table worth it?

I recently came into a pool table like in the above image but much older and crappier (it was free for a reason)! The outside pieces are a fiber board with a faux wood veneer. The other image is the frame under the slate and the slate is approx 3/4" thick with markings that indicate it's from Italy. My question is whether or not I could remake the table with decent wood on the outside and reuse the frame or if it's just a lost cause.
