Need Pool Table Chip Repair Help

My pool table is chipped out around the pockets and in need of repair.

The lip of the new pockets don't cover the damaged area. Did anyone ever have this problem and how did you repair it ?

If anyone has an idea I would like to hear it.

   Never had the problem, but some wood filler, sanding and staining to match the table should help.
