Lifting the table
We recently got a new pool table and had it professionally felted and the whole deal for a pretty penny. Now we want to tile the floor that the table is sitting on but don't want to disassemble it a pay all over again. We only need to lift it an inch or two and one side at a time. Is it possible to put a beam under one side of the table and jack that side up tile then do the other side or will it not work?

quickshot on 12/30/2009 10:57:04 AMThere is a piece if equipment that pros use to move tables. It is like a portable jack set on 4 wheels but i am not sure what it is called. I'm sure you will get a more detailed answer from some one on th site. Most bars have them because some move the table when it is not being used because of parties, dances ete cetra. They are also used in showrooms to move tables around.
What you are suggesting is a possiblity but be sure and level the table afterwards. When leveling do not do it on the rails but rather on the playing surface. I do not think a couple of inches will be a problem, although I would pick up the end sides if possible. It would cause less stress.dlabout on 12/30/2009 3:15:04 PM
What Quickshot is refering to is a pool table dolly. They are nice for the bar tables but don't always fit under the larger tables due to the frame construction. You could use a 4 foot 4x4 under the table extending out each side and a floor jack to lift up the side. The 4x4 should spread out the stress of the weight across the pool table frame and let you have room for the tile. You will need to relevel the table after you are done. Good luck! -Doug
