leather pocket restoration DYI

Has anyone ever attempted to restore their own leather pockets out there? Specifically I am referring to taking the old worn out leather off of the iron (mine are number 5's --hard to find Brunswick -1920 Regina) and rewrapping it with new leather. I am only interested in how tos if you have done it or know how. Trying to figure out the leather forming process around a curved surface. Not interested in referrals to websites where I can send them to have them redone for several hundred dollars.
