Simonis is the leading brand of cloth for billiards of all kinds. {Although there are arguably equivalent or nearly equivalent clothes.}
- it is nap-free
- it wears well
- it is consistent
takes abuse well {water, vacuum, brushing, pock marks}
- 300 is billiards cloth for 3-cushion billiards on 10' and 12' tables
- 760 is fast pocket billiards cloth for 8', 9', and 10' tables
- 860 is moderate speed cloth for 7', 8', and 9' tables
- 860 HR is a moderate speed cloth with some kind of teflon to aid life
Simonis 860 is better on a pool table than on a drapery or used for making a suit.
When a pool table is absolutely dead level, and you roll a ball at very slow speed, you can see the ball move off line by minute clumps of cloth uneven-ness, making even a perfectly balanced ball wobble as it comes to a stop. Simonis and a couple other top cloths have the property that you almost can't see any wobble on the balls coming to a stop.
This comes with the liability that the table will need to remain level to the thickness of a sheet of typing paper or you will see table roll on such perfect clothes.
