What is a Carom?
I just dont get this term. What is a carom? Is it a shot? A kiss? A bank off another ball?

Welcome to the Billiard Forums, and thanks for posting.
To answer your question, "Carom" is basically a shot in which the cue ball contacts one object ball and then another.
This is a general definition, and i'm sure that others will have variations, as this is a widely misunderstood billiard term.

Yes, that is correct @billiardsforum, as opposed to a non-carom shot where you only have one direct hit.

I was under the impression that a carom was off the bumper? my bad...

That is true, the term can be used loosely to simply refer to the rebound of a ball off of another ball, or off of a rail.
