Rack Balls in Numerical Order?
When racking balls in billiards, do you have to rack them numerically within the rack?

Well, the General Rules of Pocket Billiards aren't completely clear on this specific aspect of the rack. This is generally because each of the specific billiard games have their own specific rules for the proper racking of the balls. (Which makes sense, as you wouldn't rack the same way in 8 Ball as you would for 6 Ball, where a diamond rack is used.) You are probably thinking about the standard triangle rack, which, if we look to the rules of 8 Ball, which are only slightly more specific, they state:
"Within the rack, the 8-ball is centered while the two corners are each spotted with one solid ball and one stripe ball."
So as long as the 8 ball is in the middle, and the two corners have are opposite (solids/stripes) then you are good to go.
