Joe Davis Dufferin Pool Cues

Joe Davis Dufferin Pool Cues

Have you ever heard of a Joe Davis by Dufferin pool cue? They had a stainless steel joint, spliced butt with the name plate on the bottom.

I have one which I believe may be from their first line of cues in 1967, which is when they first started making cues. They produced approximately 5000 pool cues that first year.

I can't find anything about their production other than that and I am not sure how many of those 5000 were the Joe Davis Dufferin cues.

Does anyone know anything about this cue?

The Joe Davis cue by Dufferin was manufactured in the late 1970s under licence by Peradon Cues.

Dufferin discontinued the Joe Davis pool cue in 1980, I believe.

Peradon Cues still owns the name and you can still buy a Joe Davis cue by Peradon.

The Dufferin Joe Davis cue is high quality laminated ash with a rosewood grip. Mine weighs 17 oz, but I do not know the range of weights they came in. The joint is made of well-machined stainless steel.

A recent auction on eBay listed the sale price of this cue at approximately $115 CAD / $95 USD.

@beamer - I saw that you evenutally listed yours on eBay for $450 CAD (listing 221702748704) - did it ever sell? Also, I'd guess much higher a number than 100. Doesn't make sense for Peradon to outsource a short-run order of just 100 cues, does it?

Aluminum on the butt is showing some wear over the years and the finish on the butt is all original but showing some crackling and a few nicks. Sold through Peradon in UK only. Possible it was made the first year Dufferin were in business...1967? Contacted Dufferin but all records were destroyed through the different sales of the company. Cant say shaft is original but fits properly so i assume it is. The tip is approximately 10 - 10.5 mm.

I did see another Joe Davis by Dufferin (Peradon) listed on eBay in 2016...

    It went for $40 CAD.

This vintage pool cue belonged to my grandfather, who was really into pool and snooker.

It is labeled with Joe Davis' signature plus the words "20 Years World Champion" - it is a cue made by the Canadian cue manufacturer Dufferin (as noted on the handle) and apparently distributed exclusively in the U.K. By Peradon.

It is a 2-piece cue. When put together the length of the cue is 55 inches.

I was bought one of these cues for my 21st birthday in 1978, and handed it on to my son on his 21st in 2014.

@Cody Mosk - did you have a question about your pool cue? It looks like just the image upload came through.
