I need info on que types and stuff

Can anyone give me information regarding what the important aspects of a pool que are and what they do.... I have heard terms such as quick release and sneaky pete that apply to general types of que's and dont really know what they mean. Also more specific things would be apreciated such as what a quick release pin in a specific joint does or what difference the stiffness makes or what the taper is,also maybe what are the different types of tips are and what difference they make... im pretty much looking for a complete cue breakdown so anyone who is willing to write a small book in response would be appreciated -- thanks
