Cue Shaft Size Getting Smaller
What size cue shaft are you guys playing with now? I've noticed a trend where they seem to be getting smaller and smaller.

I've noticed that with cue shaft diameters below 12.5mm, you can get very precice and technical with your shots with respect to throw and English. You can be more precise with where you are hitting the ball as well. The tradeoff though, is that you run a greater risk of deflection.
With the smaller shafts, you'll get increased ability to produce spin. It'll suprise you.

I wish I was good enough to worry about stuff like this!
What do the pro billiard players use, on average?

Snooker cues go way smaller that this and are probably that way to increase the precision of the player's shots. If this works in snooker, why wouldn't it in regular billiards? The answer is that it does. I use a range of snooker cues to play regular billiards (10mm-12mm) and have good success with them. It will take a while to get used to, and I don't recommend them for break shots; you'll want a thicker cue for this.

Ginger - what type of billiards are you playing? 8 ball?

yes - I'm playing eight ball most of the time, just casual.

Thanks for the replies. I've found the smaller ones more to be good for more technical shooting, but was just curious.
