Value of a McDermott D12 Cue
How much is a McDermott D12 cue worth?
The cue is in great condition. I would rate it's condition at about 9 out of 10.
Any idea of the value of this McDermott D12 pool cue?

I would put the value at somewhere between $350 and $500 depending on condition and number of matching shafts.
I don't have a ton of personal experience with the McDermott D-Series cues, so take this info with a grain of salt. I am only going by past classified sales we have in our records.
- 2017 - A McDermott D12 cue (which was listed as "recently fully restored"), with one shaft, sold for $498.
- 2018 - A damaged McDermott D12 pool cue sold on ebay with 2 matching shafts for $300.
The McDermott D-series is generally regarded as one of McDermott Cue's best lines ever made, and are generally highly sought after by players and collectors alike.
However, I do notice that there is some price sensitivity in the folks looking for these cues, and D-series cues won't sell for a long time if priced too high.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your response, I got a great deal on the cue.
Can you tell me about the "number of matching shafts" part?
Do some actually come new with multiple shafts? Or do people just buy extra shafts along the way?

Yeah it appears to be in fantastic shape. Nice find.
Apparently that particular cue could be ordered with multiple stain color options in the butt sleeve since it has two separate pieces of solid wood e.g. above and below that ring. I learned this in reading about the TWO McDermott D-series collections that JaxRabbit had put together and fully restored:
The D-12 has some interesting options for staining because of the different sections of Birdseye Maple, including the points. The results shown here were suggested by McDermott Factory Staff.

When ordering new production cues, one can typically specify the number of shafts. Folks sometimes order two or three. Sometimes folks order them after the fact (and usually have to send the cue in if you want to ensure that any decoration in the joint collars match up when screwed together.
I only mentioned it in context of the valuation because having additional matching shafts obviously increases the overall amount one can sell a cue for.

Awesome, Thanks so much for your time.
I am slowly building a cue collection and trying to learn as much as possible about older pool cues.
Your info is greatly appreciated!
