What is this pool stick for?

What is this pool stick for?

I recently bought a used table with accessories. One is a cue with a cue ball permanently attached to the end. Aside from the obvious use of beating cheaters to death with it, what is it for?

This in itself would be sort of cheating except of course, practice. It is a tool for lining up cut shots. Take the cue, line up the shaft pointing through the object ball into the pocket your aiming for. Push the attached cue ball until it just touched the object ball and there, is the ghost ball for your perfect cut angle. Observe the ghost ball image from the point of view of your real cue ball/cue stick, remove the tool and sink that baby.

    My worst nightmare.

It could be an alignment tool. It could be a joke from who you bought the table from. Or, if you read up about billiards history, those who were not skilled at a cue stick were given a stick with a ball attached on it so they just slide into their shots on the table.

    That's my guess at least.
