Helmstetter Pool Cue Identification

Helmstetter Pool Cue Identification

When you folks have time would you identify this Helmstetter cue?

I am looking for the usual model number and years of production.

I appreciate your help,
Tim Cummings

Unfortunately I don't have any official reference material for this one!

I suspect that it is from one of the Helmstetter "86" or "87" cue series - but I don't have full brochures for each, so I can't nail down the model.

It is nearly identical to the Helmstetter 97-6 cue, except that the 97-6 cue has double rings at the butt cap and join collars, vs. the single ring on yours.

The only reference I have to your exact cue is a private sale classified from December 2013:

    Helmstetter Cue with 2 Shafts - $200

    • 4 points with veneers and MOP inlays

I am needing to sell my Helmstetter cue.

It is one of the nicest Helmstetter cues that I have ever seen (in my opinion).

It kind of reminds me of the Balabushka line that Adams/Helmstetter cues, and I imagine that it is close to the same quality.

The cue and both shafts roll perfectly straight.

The 2nd shaft appears to be an aftermarket custom made shaft (from an unknown maker), and the ferrule appears to be ivory (because I can see some grain in the ferrule), and the tip appears to be maybe a moori (or other type of high quality layered tip).

The butt has a lot of nicks/dings in it, but it is really a great hitting cue, and it is perfectly straight (together or apart, without any taper roll out that I can see, which is pretty rare I think).

I would not be selling the cue if I did not really need the money.

I am not sure about the weight, or the shaft sizes, so I can only take my best guess.

The weight feels like it is around 19 oz, and the shafts are around 11 mm (on the original shaft), and 13.5 mm (on the thicker of the 2 shafts).
