Anyone Know What Kind of Cue This Is?

Anyone Know What Kind of Cue This Is?

Does anyone know what kind of cue this is? I got it from my dad after he passed away. His name is Larry Nelson and he was a professional pool player in the 1980s. We are from the Seattle, WA area.

The cue is straight as an arrow, and I think it's very old. There are no markings on it, so I cant tell who the cue maker would be.

I was thinking it might be a Gina cue?

It has the same thin wood right that the JJ cue that came with this one.

I looked through my Ginacue materials and there's nothing resembling this cue at all.

Most, if not all, Ginacue models would have one of four Ginacue logos on the butt cap.

Of course, if your father (who originally owned the cue) was a professional pool player, he could well have had it custom made for him (though I don't think the cue is as old as you do).

The "jj" cues (from J&J Sales) are kind of a low-end import cue generally priced between $99 and $199, etc and Ginacue cues are usually priced in the range of $5000-$9000 (and up), so I guess it would be kind of odd to see a Ginacue paired with one. J&J America does sell Ginacue cues though!

In fact, I'd latch on to the fact that the thin wood ring is the same (or similar) and explore J&J cues some more. The joint pin style on the cue above also seems similar to those used on J&J cues. I took a look through my J&J America catalogs and didn't see it, but you might have some luck if you reached out to them.

I'll continue to keep a look out for the cue and will let you know if I come across anything. Please do the same if you find more info in the meanwhile.

Wow! I'm very excited to learn more about this cue. Thank you very much for your help. Do you know the style of wood/stain in this cue?

I will post pictures of the j&j cue when I get it back at the beginning of July.

In the very first image the larger mother of pearl "inlay" looks to be a decal (there's a piece missing / scraped off) rather than an actual inlay.

This would point to the cue being a lower-priced import cue.
