Simple 8-ball Tournament Rules
I belong to a small billiards club which is part of a retirement community.
Several members want to start a simple 8-ball tournament among our members (about 20 total).
I have gone to the APA site and read the rules, but we just want a simple, short tournament between members.
Any reference to written "how to host a pool tournament" instructions would be appreciated.

I did a search on, Simple Rules for 8 Ball. Found lots of answers but nothing simple! I would go to, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight-ball , or the BCA rules here and cut, paste and print the most bare bone rules, 2 versions of everything then everyone votes. Print and post said rules. I like simple rules too. I would like to think 10 rules could cover almost every situation if spelled out clearly. The last rule could be, In the nature of fair play between members of this club, whenever a disagreement can not be resolved amicably the game will be replayed. What about a code of conduct agreement? I for one would like to see the rules you end up playing by posted here.

I agree with Fenwick. Search out the basic rules in Wikipedia and the BCA and then make up your own rules based on the real ones. It is just a matter of modifying the rules to acommodate the people in the community. Sometimes less is best when it comes to a small group playing as part of a social gathering. Let us know what happens.
