Texas Hold-Em Billiards in NV
Several years ago my Uncle and I played "Texas hold-em billiards" in a small bar in Pahrump, NV.
It can be played with any number of players and it reminded me a little of baseball.
- Each player gets 3 strikes until they are illuminated from the game.
- All the balls are used in the rack and when the balls are cleared from the table, the last player who was illuminated would re-rack the table.
- A player would receive a strike when it was their turn in rotation and they would miss a shot.
- The order in which the balls where pocketed did not matter nor did the choice of pockets.
- If the cue ball leaves the table it is considered a strike.
The object was not to miss a pocket shot and if you did that would be considered a strike, thus the example of baseball, three strikes and you are out. This gives the not so good players a chance to win the game. The positioning of the cue ball after the previous players shot is a huge factor.
Does anyone recognize the game I am describing? Is the game known by another name?
I have a friend that owns a bar and would like more information or some official rules to review. I am trying to get her to open up a night of this type of tournament play.
This type of tournament play makes it more enjoyable (for those of us who are not pool sharks) in winning a tournament.
