Pool Table Room Size

I have an offer of a 4 by 8 foot pool table, what size is the smallest room that I can put it in? How big should the room be to accommodate this size billiard table?

   The minimum size room for a four by eight table is 16 feet by 20 feet. That is the minimum billiard room size. Go a little larger if you can afford the space.

   What if you upgrade to a 4.5 by 9 foot pool table in the future? Are you building this room from scratch?

   To accommodate a 4.5 by 9 foot table, you'll need a room that is about 17 feet by 21 feet.

   Not building from scratch. I have two rooms that are possible, and it looks like either will be large enough. Thanks!

   Great! It sucks to have to squeeze in to a room that is too small for the table. You'll be completely glad that you did it properly.
