Can someone explain to me in layman's terms what a back-cut shot is?

It has something to do with the way the object ball comes to rest when using a cut shot. But I'm not sure beyond that.

He's got some good stuff on his site there. So it looks like a back-cut shot is one where the cue ball, after striking the object ball, hits the cushion and rebounds out across the initial line where the object ball originally was.

A back cut is when the OB is cut in the opposite direction of the cue ball's path of travel.

As an example: if the OB is on the left side of the side pocket against the rail and the CB is on the right side of the opposite side pocket and you bank the OB into the side pocket the CB is on. It is a back cut or a cross cut.
