Buying Pool Table from Costco?
We want to buy a Billard table for Christmas for our basement. It will be for teenage kids and some adult use. I don't want to spend a ton, but if we are going to make the investment, I would like to buy a quality product that stands the test of time. I'm a big Costco fan and they are selling some models from American Heritage and Brunswick. Does anyone have any recommendations about:
- What pool table should I buy?
- Should I buy from Costco or just head to our local Family Leisure?
Thanks for your feedback.

I too am a Costco fan! Their warranty and returns program is second to none IMO.
Unfortunately, everyone seems to focus on how the table looks - not how it plays, or the quality of construction...
They have many offerings and looks. One inch thick slate is a must. The installer is as important as the maker. I assume the installer will have some training at a regional or factory "school" but that's a question you need to ask BEFORE doing the deal!
Any table will require a decent overhead light.
Take your time. Try and see the table at a nearby hands-on location and get a price - to be sure Costco's deal is what they typically are (excellent).
Let us know what you decide. Last thing? The "brand" is usually irrelevant! Both Brunswick and American Heritage have low-end tables that are relatively "undesirable."

Here's a link that rates tables by brand name. http://www.pooltablereviewguru.com/top-picks/ Do some searching as this may be your one and only purchase. It may be in the family for generations.
