Pechauer or McDermott?
I am looking to purchase my first cue. I have recently visited my local billiards supply and checked out some cues. I have a budget of about $200. A few players in my league suggested McDermott and then upon visiting the store the sales person also suggested I check out the JP cues as well. I don't feel I really need all the inlays and glamour in my first cue but I would like a cue that I will be able to continue using as my skills improve. The McDermott cues I was shown are in the $159-189 range and the JP cues were $199 that I was told were comparable. I shot with both brands and I liked the feel of both cues. I could tell a little difference between the feel of the cues but both felt good shooting. Any opinions or suggestions? I appreciate any input. Thanks.

I have a Player that I bought as my first cue and I still have it after almost two years. I take very good care of it, and it cost me $79.00. If you buy a cue on the internet from one of the many billiards places ( and most of them carry a full line of products) you can probably get a bag for free as part of the deal and also free shipping after a certain price.
Good luck and take your time deciding. As you mentioned, you do not really need all the bells and whistles for the first cue.

I recently purchased A Pechauer JP K-11 cue with birdseye maple wood. The balance is great but the dynamic balance in the length is fantastic.
I am impressed!
No one will touch my JP! MY RULE! I HAVE THE BEST!
