At Shurtz Custom Cues we take great pride in the cues we make. Each cue is made using the finest materials available. The shafts are made of Hard Rock Canadian Maple, cut and dried at intervals for six months before it will be put on a cue. This process helps to stabilize the wood and prevent warpage. The taper of our shaft is one of things that make our cues stand out form all of the others.

We specialize in custom cues, made to your specifications. All designs and inlay work are done at our shop, using many different exotic woods, ivory, gems and metals.

Since we are a small shop not all of the models pictured are available for immediate delivery. Contact us for delivery time on a cue you are interested in.

All cues shown on the Unique Cue Page are one of a kind or very limited production. With complete assurance that you will be satisfied with a Shurtz Cue, we guarantee our cues for the lifetime of the cue, against any defect or problem that arises due to manufacturing.

Note: Exceptions to our guarantee can be made by our staff, according to the condition of the cue. A cue and it's reaction to temperature changes and extreme conditions will be taken into consideration. Therefor, we cannot be held responsible for any cue with abnormal exposure or use after it has been removed from the original container. The best care for your cue is to keep it in a cue case and out of the weather.

History

Shurtz Custom Cues began in 1983, in the garage of Jack Shurtz, located in Wichita, Kansas. Jack has been in the billiard business since 1968, traveling five states recovering pool tables and selling billiard supplies. He was also a partner in a retail outlet for pool table and supplies. Jack learned his trade at making cues from the late Verl Horn in Mooreland, Oklahoma. Verl took Jack under his wing and they spent many hours together making cues. Jacks reputation for doing outstanding work has made his cues very popular in the Midwest.

In 1994 a partnership with Bob Owen of Wichita, Kansas was formed. Once together the company soon outgrew Jacks garage. A larger building was found and is now the current location of Shurtz Custom Cues. Bob has been involved in the billiard industry as a room owner, league operator, and a amature player since 1971. He also was one of the owners and general manager of a circuit board manufacturing company for fifteen years. This is when his expertise in computers and manufacturing was developed. Bob is the general manager of our shop and can be contacted there during normal business hours.
