At Greenleaf's Pool Room, we celebrate the found object; a pane of 19th century industrial glass, theater seats where families once confronted a war in news reels and escaped that war in films about an America that never existed, slate railings from long abandoned Richmond Pool Rooms, and the sign.
There it is, miraculously in situ, found by one of our friends, alive, in the God awful movie "Baron and the Kid" starring Johnny Cash. It's a confused mishmash that lays a trench through a shifting strata of filial love and betrayal over the green felt. Nonsense. Really.
But...the sign! Wow. Rescued from an auction lot in Greenville, saved from further pop culture indignities, broken and pitted by a century of storms, it is a beautiful relic. It will never be restored.

With the lease signed in July of 2013, Jim "Carpet Jimmy" Gottier, former professional pool player, and Andrea ball set out to build one of the nicest and best managed pool rooms of today.
“Pool used to be considered a beautiful game, so we want to make a hall that’s beautiful to play in and classic to the John Marshall”
Jim and Andrea set out to re-create the ambiance of a classic 1930's pool hall. The name pays homage to Ralph Greenleaf, a 20 time World Pocket Billiards Champion from the 1930s.
Finally opening in August of 2014, Greenleaf's Pool Room features 12 Brunswick Gold Crown pool tables with Simonis 860 cloth.

- 1 Person - $8/hr per table
- 2-4 People - $15/hr per table
- Group (5+) - $20/hr per table
- Advance Reservation - $25/hr per table
- All Day (until 6pm) - $24
Adjacent to the John Marshall Hotel Apartments. Greenleaf's Pool Room, in downtown Richmond, has thirteen Brunswick Gold Crown tables, a full American bar and restaurant, featuring Chef Hannah Pollack's re- presentations of classic 1930's luncheonette food. In the first part of the last century it was standard for great hotels to have a barber shop and a pool room. We are so happy to provide the final link in the restoration of a great Richmond landmark.
