Is Hitting the Jaws of a Pocket the Same as Contacting a Cushion (for Safety)?
Are the pocket jaws considered to be part of the rail cushions on a pool table?
I am asking as it relates to meeting the requirements of certain rules which require the ball to contact a cushion.
So, if you hit the inside of the pocket/jaws is that considered to be "contacting a rail"?

I am not sure that I understand your question correctly, but I will answer it as I understand it:
Is contacting the jaw the same as contacting a cushion as far as the rules are concerned?
The answer is—Yes, contacting the inner surface of the cushion in the pocket opening counts as contacting a rail, as far as the rules are concerned.
