So,. what is the history of Ball In Hand. When and how did it start and who promoted it?

    As I understand it, the concept of "ball in hand" was implemented when ESPN and the like decided to put billiards on TV. The game of 8 ball could be long and slow to watch. The creation of ball in hand and the shot clock promoted a faster pace and more excitement in the game.

    I always recall the great games between Willie Mosconi and Minnesota Fats to be in the kitchen. I may be wrong about this but that is my best recollection.
