Can You Shoot at the 8 Ball When it is Not Your Last Ball?
I was playing a game of 8 ball. My friend had only the 8 ball left and I had three of my balls. He shot the 8 ball in front of the pocket and then I decided to shot the 8 ball away from the hole as a direct shot to destroy for him. He says that I can not do that and I lose the game.
Who is right and who is wrong?

So your opponent has his 8-ball sitting in front of a pocket Then you shoot directly at the 8-ball to move it away from the pocket. This is a foul, and the opponent gets ball-in-hand and can place the CB anywhere on the table and shoot at his 8-ball. It is not an automatic loss of game. Automatic loss of game occurs when you use a bodily component or other implement to alter the course of a ball (stationary or in motion). Such as using the cue stick to make the OB drop in the pocket, or picking up a ball from the table, or blowing a ball into the pocket.
