8 Ball Format Played With Break-Box
I watched a world championship eight ball match between Mike Sigel and another player and I noticed that the table they were playing on had a half moon snooker style breaking area that they broke the balls from instead of using the complete kitchen area.
What is this type of 8-ball format called?
This question relates to the following billiard rules:

I believe they had to break within break box. Less likely to make the 8 on the break. Search, breaking within the box, 8 ball.

The world-wide pool community is trying to find a way out of several delimas by moving the racks arround and by limiting where the break may start.
In the 8-ball end of things, a break from the side rails towards the second ball has a quite high probability of sinking the 8-ball on the break. The power-that-be don't like this and are diddling with the rules to prevent.
In the 9-ball end of things, the power-that-be are moving the spot of the break to under the 9-ball (from under the 1-ball) and have tried (with poor results) rules whereby a legal break has to leave at least 2 balls above the headstring. The problem, here, is that a couple of years ago in a tourneyment in the Philippines the pros figured out how to slow break, sink a ball and end up with easy run-outs. My response was "is that not what we want?" the directors response was "how do we screw with the game so this does not happen?"
